Impinj, NXP Want New Trial in $2 Million Texas RFID Patent Suit

Impinj Inc. and NXP Semiconductors Netherlands BV told a Texas judge a new trial is needed in a $2 million dispute over three radio frequency identification technology patents for multiple reasons, including prejudicial testimony and the inability to recover damages for induced infringement.

Impinj allegedly used third-party reports on its products commissioned by NXP to “improperly paint NXP as a serial copier” during a two-week November trial in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas, NXP said in a redacted motion for a new trial made public Tuesday.
