Google’s Board Challenge of Neonode Touchscreen Patent Fails (1)

Neonode Smartphone LLC defeated an effort by Google LLC to have one of its mobile user interface patents declared invalid, the second time the company has fended off Big Tech at an administrative tribunal.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board rejected Google’s argument that 13 claims in Neonode’s US Patent No. 8,095,879 were obvious based on earlier patents.

The ruling followed an earlier failed challenge by Samsung Electronics Co. and Apple Inc., who had argued the patent’s claims were obvious based on a different set of prior art.
