Google Should Escape Map-Ads Patent Lawsuit, Judge Recommends

Google LLC moved closer to defeating a New York inventor’s patent suit over Google Maps as a federal magistrate judge recommended throwing out his case and deeming his revived patent application tainted.

Judge Alvin Hellerstein should dismiss Sholem Weisner’s lawsuit, with prejudice, and find his revived patent application unenforceable because his lawyers misled the US Patent and Trademark Office about his years-long delay in pursuing it, Magistrate Judge Valerie Figueredo wrote in a report and recommendation issued Friday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
