Goodyear Owes $64 Million for Stealing Tire Tech, Jury Says

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. should pay an inventor $64 million for willfully and maliciously stealing his self-inflating tire technology, an Ohio federal jury found.

Coda Development S.R.O. won $2.8 million in compensatory damages and $61.2 million in punitive damages after a one-day trial Monday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. The verdict form indicated that Coda established seven of the 11 claimed secrets that made it to trial qualified as trade secrets, and that Goodyear stole five of them.
