Garmin Forerunner SmartWatch Spurs Patent Infringement Suit

A non-practicing entity hit Garmin USA Inc. with patent infringement allegations concerning a smartwatch for runners, its latest lawsuit in a two-year assertion campaign.

Garmin’s Forerunner 945 LTE watch incorporates methods similar to SmartWatch MobileConcepts LLC’s US Patent No. 10,362,480, which covers a wearable device capable of accessing secured electronic systems, according to a complaint filed Monday in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Garmin declined a request for comment.
