Fossil, Smartwatch Patent Owner Halt Suit to Finalize Settlement

Fossil Group Inc. and a patent owner agreed to resolve a lawsuit concerning technology inside smartwatch products.

Judge Rodney Gilstrap granted Fossil and BT Wearables LLC’s joint motion requesting a 30-day stay to finalize their agreement, , according to an order entered Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

• BT Wearables sued Fossil in April, alleging the fashion company infringed US Patent No. 9,204,796, 9,775,520, 10,362,940, 10,729,336and 11,051,704 by selling its Gen 5 and 6 smartwatch products and associated mobile apps.
