Fossil Hit With Patent Lawsuit in Texas Over Smartwatch Products

BT Wearables LLC sued Fossil Group Inc. in a patent-infringement litigation campaign targeting smartwatch products providing users with health metrics.

Fossil’s Gen 5 and 6 smartwatch products and associated mobile apps utilize methods for monitoring a user’s health and allowing them to give speech commands, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. BT Wearables said the smartwatches infringe US Patent No. 9,204,796, 9,775,520, 10,362,940, 10,729,336 and 11,051,704.
