‘Endless Summer’ Trademark Spat With Nike, Foot Locker Dropped

Bruce Brown Films LLC agreed to dismiss claims against Nike Inc. and Foot Locker Inc. in Los Angeles federal court that a Nike promotion by Foot Locker’s Champs stores infringed trademarks related to the 1966 surf documentary “The Endless Summer.”

The Champs ads allegedly used the phrase “Endless Summer” and an image similar to an “Endless Summer” poster featuring “a series of stylized blue waves with a large orange sun,” according to Bruce Brown’s March complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
