Peloton Streaming Patents Voided After Echelon’s Agency Challenge

Echelon Fitness Multimedia LLC convinced an administrative tribunal that two Peloton Interactive Inc. patents covering a system for streaming and on-demand exercise classes shouldn’t have been issued.

The Patent Trial and Appeal Board said Echelon had shown that claims in Peloton’s U.S. Patent Nos. 10,322,315 and 10,022,590 cover obvious inventions.

Echelon asked the PTAB to review the patents in 2020, after it was sued in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Peloton alleged certain models of Echelon’s Smart Connect exercise bikes infringed Peloton’s technology.
