Cybersecurity Firm Wants Microsoft, Okta Patent Suits Dismissed

Biogy Inc. told a California federal judge it never accused Okta Inc. and Microsoft Corp. of patent infringement when it sent their customer Albertsons Companies Inc. a demand letter that prompted the two companies to sue the cybersecurity firm.

The tech companies didn’t establish there was a dispute between them and Biogy for encouraging or helping customers infringe a password security patent because they haven’t shown they’re responsible for covering customers’ litigation costs, Biogy argued in a motion to dismiss filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
