Apple, Samsung Knock Out Two More Smart Mobile Wireless Patents

Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. convinced the US Patent and Trademark Office to cancel two Smart Mobile Technologies LLC wireless technology patents one month after securing invalidation of two others.

The technology companies sufficiently demonstrated US Patent Nos. 8,824,434 and 9,756,168 were obvious due to prior inventions, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board said in two decisions issued Monday. Apple and Samsung have now tallied four PTAB wins against Smart Mobile and have challenges to 10 other patents pending.
