Apple, Samsung Successfully Challenge Two Wireless Tech Patents

Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. convinced an administrative tribunal to invalidate two patents Smart Mobile Technologies LLC asserted against the companies in litigation concerning wireless communication technology for phones, computers, and other devices.

The US Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board ruled Tuesday ten claims of US Patent Nos. 8,761,739 and 8,442,501 are unpatentable because they were obvious due to analogous art.
