A licensing company dropped trademark claims against the producer of a new musical based on the 1908 book “Anne of Green Gables” in New York federal court.
Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority Inc. had countersued Anne With An E LLC for infringement in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. AGGLA owns trademark registrations to the title of L.M. Montgomery’s novel. Anne With An E launched its original suit arguing it had every right to use the title of a public domain work to label its rendition.
