American Red Cross Escapes Suit Over Haiti Funds for Second Time

A proposed class action against the American Red Cross and its leaders over allegedly mismanaging Haitian disaster relief funds was again largely dismissed Thursday, with a federal judge warning that another amended complaint from the plaintiffs “may be their last.”

The lead plaintiffs—a Haitian coalition comprised of groups and individuals—still didn’t overcome the defendants’ facial challenge for standing, said Judge Cecilia M.
