AMD Bid for Import Ban Against TCL, Realtek to Get ITC Probe

The US International Trade Commission will investigate Advanced Micro Devices Inc.’s claims that TCL Industries Holdings Co. Ltd. and Realtek Semiconductor Corp. infringe patents related to graphics systems.

Advanced Micro and its ATI Technologies ULC unit filed a complaint in May with the ITC seeking an import ban on certain graphics systems and digital televisions. The commission said it started an investigation, which typically takes 15-18 months.
