Amazon.com Inc. and Williams-Sonoma Inc. have settled their wide-ranging intellectual property fight in California federal court.
Details of the settlement weren’t available. Counsel for Amazon and Williams-Sonoma declined to comment.
Williams-Sonoma sued Amazon for patent, trademark and, ultimately, copyright infringement in late 2018. Williams-Sonoma alleged the web retail giant sold knock-off furniture that infringed its design patents, set up an unauthorized Williams-Sonoma-branded store suggesting an affiliation, and copied and posted product photos.
Amazon contested the trademark allegations under the first-sale doctrine, which allows resellers to use the original producer’s trademarks to identify its products.
