Williams-Sonoma Hits Amazon With Patent, Trademark Claims

Williams-Sonoma Inc. slapped Amazon.com Inc. with a patent infringement suit over the alleged sale of knock-off furniture.

The complaint alleges that Amazon is selling furniture and housewares under the brand name “Rivet” that resemble WSI’s West Elm® brand products.

The company also asserts that Amazon has set up an unauthorized Williams-Sonoma-branded store on its website that is likely to lead, and has led, consumers to believe that Amazon is authorized by or affiliated with WSI.
