Amazon, Microsoft Escape Texas Patent Fight That Snags Instagram

A Texas federal judge threw out allegations that Amazon.com Services LLC’s online marketplace and Microsoft Corp.’s Bing search engine violate image-search patents developed by a father-daughter duo from Long Island, NY.

Sydney LLC’s allegations against Meta Platforms Inc.’s Instagram image-search function, however, were allowed to continue towards a 2025 trial, according to a Monday ruling from Judge Xavier Rodriguez of the US District Court for the Western District of Texas’s San Antonio division.
