Amazon, American Eagle Settle Aerie Trademark Lawsuit Over Dupes

Amazon.com Inc. reached an agreement to end American Eagle Outfitters Inc.'s lawsuit accusing the retail giant of using Aerie trademarks to mislead customers and direct them to “dupe” products.

The parties agreed in principle to settlement terms that will resolve AEO’s claims of trademark infringement, trademark dilution, false advertising, and deceptive acts, according to a letter filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. Judge Jesse M. Furman dismissed the case the same day and gave the parties 60 days to reopen the case if the settlement isn’t finalized.
