Amazon Accused of Stealing American Eagle Marks to Promote Dupes

Amazon.com Inc. uses American Eagle Outfitters Inc.'s Aerie trademarks to trick customers into thinking the tech company sells Aerie merchandise when they’re actually directed to “dupe” products, according to a new federal lawsuit filed Wednesday.

Amazon knowingly carries out this bait-and-switch and capitalizes on AEO’s intellectual property rights and goodwill, because AEO intentionally declined Amazon’s request to sell its merchandise, said the lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.
