Alibaba Wants Patent Suit Axed for Texas IP Attorney’s Conduct

Alibaba Cloud US LLC told a California federal judge a Texas attorney’s litigation conduct warrants dismissing Cooperative Entertainment Inc.’s patent infringement lawsuit as punishment.

Bill Ramey sent settlement offers to Alibaba’s counsel proposing the software company give Cooperative $55,000 after the court denied his requests to represent the patent owner on a pro hac vice basis, according to a motion for sanction of dismissal filed June 6 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California.
