ADT Ends Challenge to ITC’s Smart-Home Systems Ban Refusal

ADT LLC came to an agreement with the US International Trade Commission in a dispute over whether Vivint Inc.'s security monitoring system infringes ADT’s patent.

The agreemend ends litigation between the company and ITC, which ADT had appealed to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit earlier this month, according to a court order. ADT was asking the nation’s patent court to review an ITC administrative law judge’s finding that Vivint’s products don’t have certain elements that would infringe ADT’s patent.

The judge’s ruling allowed Vivint to avoid an ITC import ban on its smart-home system products. ...
