10x, Stanford Beat Parse’s Bid to End Gene-Analysis Patents Case

10x Genomics Inc. defeated Parse Biosciences Inc.’s bid to dismiss a lawsuit over improved ways to analyze genetic information, as a federal judge rejected the startup’s arguments for voiding six patents, including three 10x licenses from Stanford University.

Seattle-based Parse failed to convince Judge Joel H. Slomsky that three Stanford patents cover natural phenomena and three 10x patents cover abstract ideas—determinations that would have rendered all six invalid—according to an opinion issued Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
