Hartford Unit Ends Biometric Privacy Litigation Coverage Suit

A Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. unit dropped its lawsuit against an AI voice technology company over insurance coverage for biometric privacy litigation.

Hartford Underwriters Insurance Co. filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of its suit against ConverseNow Technologies Inc. in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois on Wednesday.

  • Several policy exclusions barred coverage for legal defense costs in two proposed class actions alleging violations of Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act, Hartford said in a complaint filed in July
  • No attorney entered an appearance for ConverseNow
  • Hartford didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment
