Chubb, Hartford Lose Bid to Stop Transfer of Meta Coverage Row

Meta Platforms Inc.'s dispute with its insurers over coverage for social media lawsuits should be resolved as part of multidistrict litigation, a federal judicial panel ruled, shooting down insurers’ efforts to prevent the transfer.

Meta and its insurers have been embroiled in a fight over where coverage issues should be litigated to determine who pays for the underlying cases alleging the social media giant got kids hooked on its platforms. Hartford Insurance Group Inc. and Chubb Ltd. units opposed the MDL transfer and fought to stay in Delaware state court, where Hartford first raised the coverage dispute.
