Insurers Oppose Adding Meta Social Media Addiction Case to MDL

Insurers intensified forum-shopping accusations against Meta Platform Inc. and its subsidiary Instagram LLC, resisting efforts to fold a coverage fight over suits related to the tech giant’s alleged role in getting kids hooked on social media into multidistrict litigation.

On Feb. 7, units of Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. and Chubb Ltd. filed briefs to the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation opposing the transfer, and Chubb asked a Delaware federal court to speed up proceedings on sending the case back to state court.
