UnitedHealth Legal Chief’s Pay Package Includes Security Costs

UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s chief legal officer Christopher Zaetta was covered by the company for $213,100 in security costs last year.

The insurance giant revealed in a proxy statement late Monday that it spent more than $1.6 million in security costs last year for five senior executives, including Zaetta. The filing does not disclose when the security began. Brian Thompson, a former CEO of UnitedHealth’s insurance division, was shot to death in midtown Manhattan on Dec. 4.

Zaetta’s personal protection costs were the third-highest within UnitedHealth’s C-suite, with the largest being nearly $930,000 paid for Heather Cianfrocco, who is ...
