An organ procurement group has sued the US for allowing a transplant hospital within its exclusive service area to contract with an outside organization to aid in the donation process.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services didn’t follow the standard procedures when it granted North Carolina Baptist Hospital a waiver to work with a group from outside its geographic area, HonorBridge said in a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina on Tuesday. HonorBridge asked the court to set aside the waiver.
