Federally funded doctors will soon be able to refer pregnant patients to facilities that provide abortions under a final rule that cleared White House review Wednesday.
The signoff from the Office of Management and Budget signals the rule can be published by the Department of Health and Human Services at any time.
The HHS proposed in April reversing a Trump-era rule that prohibited federally funded doctors from referring pregnant patients to facilities that provide abortions, saying the policy “undermined the public health of the population the program is meant to serve.”
