An order allowing Michigan to enforce a ban on gay conversion therapy while awaiting trial on the merits will be appealed, a faith-based charitable group and a therapist told a federal court.
They filed a notice of appeal Thursday informing the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan that they’re asking the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to weigh in on the issue. Judge Jane M. Beckering denied the plaintiffs’ request to halt enforcement Jan. 28, saying they hadn’t shown they’re likely to win on free-speech, free-exercise, and due process claims.
