Michigan Groups Appeal Reproductive Rights Amendment Suit Loss

Michigan Right to Life and other anti-abortion activists in the state are escalating their fight against a Michigan constitutional amendment that protects a “fundamental right to reproductive freedom.”

The plaintiff group told the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan Tuesday that it’s appealing a ruling dismissing the suit, which alleged the provision violates multiple federal constitutional guarantees. The district court said the plaintiffs lacked standing because none of them demonstrated they suffered an injury in fact by reason of the amendment.
