Government Defends Approval of Coastal Virginia Wind Project

The National Marine Fisheries Service and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management are seeking to toss a federal suit challenging their approval of a wind project off the Virginia coast.

The agencies evaluated the best available science and reasonably concluded the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind Commercial Project wouldn’t jeopardize the endangered North Atlantic right whale, they said in a summary judgment motion filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
