Biden’s Energy Goals Are Harming Endangered Whales, Lawsuit Says

The National Marine Fisheries Service and Bureau of Ocean Energy Management have authorized a slew of Atlantic coast offshore wind projects that could destroy the rapidly dwindling North Atlantic right whale population, environmental and policy groups said Monday in a federal lawsuit.

NMFS issued a biological opinion for Dominion Energy Corp.‘s offshore wind project concluding that the 176 approved turbines won’t affect endangered whales off the Virginia Beach coast, Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow and other groups said in their suit. But NMFS didn’t account for previously approved offshore wind projects and their cumulative effects, they said.
