BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R. 2483, Opioid Epidemic Programs Renewal

Federal programs to combat the nation’s opioid epidemic would be reauthorized through fiscal 2030 under H.R. 2483.

The bill would renew funding for drug prevention and treatment programs as well as mental health initiatives enacted in 2018 under the bipartisan SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act (Public Law 115-271; see BGOV Bill Analysis). President Donald Trump called it the “single largest bill to combat the drug crisis in the history of our country” before signing it into law during his first term.
