Federal programs and policies would be modified and created to help combat the opioid crisis under the House amendment to the Senate amendment to H.R. 6.

The bipartisan, bicameral agreement contains dozens of proposals from the House and Senate-passed versions of the bill, including:

  • A temporary suspension of the Medicaid institution for mental disease (IMD) exclusion.
  • Changes to limits on prescribing medication-assisted treatment, such as buprenorphine.
  • New requirements on the Postal Service intended to curb illicit fentanyl shipments.
