WSP USA Settles Medical Leave Interference, Retaliation Claims

WSP USA Inc. resolved claims from its former global director of internal communications that it retaliated against her for requesting Family Medical Leave Act leave.

Monica Lewman-Garcia filed a motion of settlement Thursday, a day after a mediation report was submitted to the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida following a mediation hearing via Zoom.

  • Lewman-Garcia sued the engineering and professional services firm for retaliation and interference with rights in violation of the FMLA in December 2024. She was employed by WSP USA and its predecessor from April 2019 to April 2023
