Trump SEC Continues Biden-Era Defense of Proxy Ballot Refereeing

The SEC urged the Fifth Circuit to avoid reopening its 2024 decision that maintained agency clout over which shareholder proposals get votes at companies’ annual meetings.

The agency told the US Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit on Monday it was right to dismiss a lawsuit from a self-described conservative think tank contesting the Securities and Exchange Commission’s influence over proxy ballots.
