Tesla Keeps Musk-Inspired Political Neutrality Vote Off Proxy

A Tesla shareholder’s bid to institute a “political neutrality” policy for company leadership won’t get a vote at the automaker’s upcoming annual meeting.

The automaker left the proposal, which sought to protect the company’s image by curtailing company officers’ political activism, off its proxy ballot after permission from the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Tesla shareholder Jay Butera’s resolution came in response to stock price concerns and governance queries that have surrounded the electric vehicle maker and its outspoken CEO, Elon Musk, since he began playing an outsized role in politics in recent years.
