A suit alleging that Starbucks Corp. misled consumers with claims of “100% ethical coffee sourcing” will stay in the DC court where it was filed, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Starbucks had argued the suit belongs in a federal court rather than the DC Superior Court because the coffee chain has customers nationwide and because the case warrants class-action status.
But US District Judge Amir Ali instead ruled the case would be remanded to the DC Superior Court because it had not been filed as a class action and because it did not involve a request for $5 million or more ...
