Starbucks Sued Over Allegedly Misleading ‘Ethical’ Claims (1)

Starbucks Corp. is facing a lawsuit from a consumer advocacy group alleging that the company falsely advertises its products as “ethical” when it sources its coffee from farms that are reportedly committing labor abuses.

The lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Washington, DC superior court by the nonprofit National Consumers League, alleges that the coffee company is misleading consumers by touting its “commitment to 100% ethical coffee sourcing” when it sources from suppliers with “documented, severe human rights and labor abuses” including child labor, forced labor, sexual harassment and assault.
