Perplexity’s Own AI Agent Enlisted Against It in Trademark Suit

Comet ML Inc. is trying to use Perplexity AI Inc.'s own chatbot against it in a trademark dispute, arguing that even the AI startup’s own technology confuses the two companies’ products.

The argument is part of Comet ML’s bid to modify a recent order in its trademark infringement lawsuit against Perplexity, in which a federal judge allowed the $14 billion startup to launch its AI-powered browser under the “Comet” name while the case proceeds.
