The battle over a cognac-making joint venture between Jay-Z and Bacardi Ltd. is headed back to arbitration after a New York judge declined to halt proceedings before a panel that the music mogul has criticized as biased and possibly racist.
Justice Andrea Masley on Friday rejected a bid by SCLiquor LLC, a Jay-Z affiliate, for a temporary restraining order blocking arbitrators from hearing claims that the rapper breached his pledge to cooperate with the arbitration proceedings. The proceedings were set to resume Friday.
