Transco Plays Up Natural Gas Act Against Project Challenge (1)

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC pressed its case to a panel of Third Circuit judges Thursday for throwing out environmental groups’ challenge to permits for its natural gas expansion project, arguing the claims are preempted by federal law.

The project is an expansion of Transco’s existing natural gas transmission system and will include additional pipelines, a new gas-fired turbine driven compressor station, and modifications to existing compressors.

Transco is appealing the district court’s denial of the company’s motion for preliminary injunction against the challenge. It sued the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board, its judges, and two environmental groups in March, ...
