Senators Reach Agreement on Issue That Stalled Energy Bill (1)

Two Republican senators and one Democrat on Thursday announced a bipartisan agreement to authorize a 15-year phasedown of hydrofluorocarbons, greenhouse gases found in refrigeration and air conditioning.

Senate Environment and Public Works Chairman John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Ranking Member Tom Carper (D-Del.), and John Kennedy (R-La.), agreed to change an amendment offered last winter to S. 2657, the American Energy Innovation Act.

“With this agreement, we now have a clear path in Congress to enact and implement a nationwide phasedown of hydrofluorocarbons,” Carper said.
