Republican States Turn to Supreme Court to Stay Power Plant Rule

West Virginia and Indiana are leading other states in a US Supreme Court push to freeze greenhouse gas standards for coal-fired power plants.

The states are seeking a stay of the rule from justices, after failing to receive one from the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. That circuit panel turned down their original request on July 19, which stems from the lawsuit that states filed in May.
