A private Montana ski resort evaded part of a suit alleging that it caused algae blooms in the Gallatin River, after a federal judge held that the plaintiff environmental group doesn’t have standing to bring two of its claims.
Cottonwood Environmental Law Center sued Yellowstone Mountain Club LLC in April, claiming that it dumps treated sewage into a tributary of the Gallatin and over-irrigates its golf course nearby. The resort lacks the required federal permits to dump pollutants, which cause green algae blooms, the center said.
