Massachusetts Signs ‘Landmark’ Clean Energy Permitting Overhaul

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey (D) on Thursday signed a climate law aimed at speeding clean energy project timelines and expanding tax incentives for offshore wind projects.

The law revamps siting and permitting processes for wind, solar, and transmission projects by establishing a one-year deadline for cities to approve projects and a 15-month deadline for the state, according to a press release from Healey’s office. Other states have recently taken similar steps to get more renewables plugged into grids.
