Minnesota Governor Approves Renewable Energy Permitting Reform

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) on Friday signed into law a package of renewable energy permitting reform provisions aimed at speeding the construction of transmission lines and cutting red tape for solar and wind development.

The Minnesota Energy Infrastructure Permitting Act, part of a larger agriculture and energy omnibus bill, builds on a sweeping climate package that Walz signed last session. This year’s measure was proposed to reduce redundancies in the siting process and speed timelines, the American Clean Power Association, a trade organization that represents more than 800 clean energy companies, said in a press release.
