Iowa Challenges Amended Electric Vehicle Fuel Economy Rule

Iowa on Wednesday sued the Trump administration over its amended rule establishing how to compute the fuel economy for electric vehicles.

The Department of Energy’s final rule issued Jan. 8 amends the process of calculating the petroleum-equivalent fuel economy of electric vehicles, which is used by the Environmental Protection Agency to figure out light-duty vehicle manufacturers’ compliance with Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards. The change removes 2024 Biden administration revisions to the rule.
