Biden EV Fuel Efficiency Standard Rule Struck by Eighth Circuit

The US Department of Energy’s updated methodology for calculating electric vehicles’ fuel efficiency was scrapped by a federal appeals court Friday in a blow to the former Biden administration’s regulatory push to update the EV market.

Thirteen mostly Republican-led states and business associations succeeded in striking down the latest petroleum-equivalency factor used to calculate compliance with Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards, after the US Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit ruled the formula didn’t comply with several energy statutes.
